Man tries to grab gun, shoot Raleigh cop

A 24-year-old Raleigh man was arrested and charged Saturday with hitting a Raleigh police officer, then attempting to take her gun to shoot her while at a Raleigh bar, according to an arrest warrant.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 24-year-old Raleigh man was arrested and charged Saturday with hitting a Raleigh police officer, then attempting to take her gun to shoot her while at a Raleigh bar, according to an arrest warrant.

Jason Edward Froeber, of 3909 Headwater Court, is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted common law robbery, injury to personal property and disorderly conduct.

The incident happened at the Raleigh Times Bar, where Officer D. Montemurro was working. Froeber also used abusive language towards Montemurro and broke a wine glass, according to a warrant.

Froeber, whose first court appearance is Tuesday, remained in the Wake County jail Monday under a $91,500 bond.
