Man struck, killed by train in Fayetteville

A Hope Mills man was struck and killed by a CSX freight train in Fayetteville early Friday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Hope Mills man was struck and killed by a CSX freight train in Fayetteville early Friday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Norman Anthony Jackson, 25, was standing on the tracks near Cumberland Road when he was hit by the train around 4:30 a.m., said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tanna said that detectives are continuing to investigate the death.
