Respectful, sincere sympathies to the family of this young man who must have felt more pain than we can understand. At our house, we offer our prayers for comfort to this family, the train engineer(s) and crew (and their families) who obviously saw all of this coming and obviously could not stop in time. They are the unwitting participants in a tragic memory NOT of their making. May God care for and protect them all!

deutschgirl, I'm not sure I understand. What does the public killing of a murderer have to do with allowing someone (who is tired of living, in chronic pain, etc.) to get off the planet?

With regards to the deathpenalty, there are a lot of injustices (e.g. racial, socioeconomic), changing evidence gathering methods (e.g. bloodtyping to DNA), and fact that it's irreversible and makes killers out of all of us...so, I can understand why people want to stop this.

But, someone who just wants to just jump ship? If they're competent & sane, who would be against that?...besides religious people who take this as an afront to "creation".

hereandnow99 -- If our state, along with plenty of others, won't even exercise their right to sentence criminals with the death penalty; what makes you think they would make it easier for somebody to commit suicide?

Why don't we make it easier for people to end their own lives? Meet with your doctor, pickup your prescription and go home.

If you want off this ride of life, who are we to stop you?

Another person killed by a train? They must've been either suicidal or intoxicated.
