Man sought in Fayetteville jewelry store theft

Police said Friday that they are searching for a Hickory man in the Thursday afternoon robbery of a Fayetteville jewelry store.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police said Friday that they are searching for a Hickory man in the Thursday afternoon theft from a Fayetteville jewelry store.

A man looking at rings at Hinkamp Jewelers, at 201 S. McPherson Church Road, snatched two rings from a salesperson shortly before 3 p.m. and ran from the store, police said.

No weapons were used or observed, and no one was injured, police said.

Investigators identified the thief as James Wallace Jernigan III, 35, and issued arrest warrants charging him with common law robbery and possession of stolen goods.
