Man sought in fatal shooting at Halifax County club

A 21-year-old Weldon man died in a shooting early Saturday at a Halifax County club, and sheriff's officials are searching for the unknown shooter.

LITTLETON, N.C. — A 21-year-old Weldon man died in a shooting early Saturday at a Halifax County club, and sheriff's officials are searching for the unknown shooter.

Jeffrey Cotton was shot in the upper back in the parking lot outside Club Dreams, on U.S. Highway 158 in Littleton, around 1:45 a.m. He died from his injury.

The shooter is described as a black man, 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a close cut hair, medium complexion, wearing a red Aeropostle T-shirt and blue jeans. The man was seen inside the club prior to the shooting, authorities said.
