DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police were searching Saturday for a 19-year-old driver they say crashed a car into an Alston Avenue house, rupturing a gas line.

William Tabron was being sought on charges of hit-and-run, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and damage to property.

Police said that a 1997 Chrysler Sebring driven by Tabron ran off the road and struck the side of a house at 801 S. Alston Ave. around 4 a.m. The impact damaged a gas line to the house. A PSNC crew has stopped the leak.

The Sebring was recovered at the scene, but Tabron fled, police said.

Anyone with information about Tabron's whereabouts should call Durham Police Officer E. Genao at 919-560-4415 or Durham Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
