— Raleigh police were investigating a shooting Thursday night after a man reported that four men tried to rob him and then shot him.

The 29-year-old victim told police he was standing in a parking lot at 701 Bright Creek Way in Chavis Heights when the men came up to him, demanded money and shot him once in the stomach.

The man managed to drive himself downtown, where he flagged down a cab and went to WakeMed, police said. The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition early Friday.

Police did not have descriptions of the four men. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Drove downtown? From Chavis Heights? Would be faster to drive the other way and he'ld be AT the hospital. Yet another reason to stay well away from the "heights".

Wonder about the article stating police didn't have description. They had to have something, them not telling is one thing, but not having anything is another. Four men? Sounds a little funny huh?

I wonder if he paid the cab fare.

If he could drive down town, why did he not drive to the hospital?

More Raleigh crime. I hope it gets recognized, but it will continue to be overlooked. Just like the string of Robberies and assaults that have been going on in Raleigh/Cary, that the police believe are linked. Where are the bashers?

    He's tough....
