Man shot in drive-by on Durham highway

Durham police said that a man was shot in the head during a drive-by on N.C. Highway 147 early Saturday.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said that a man was shot in the head during a drive-by on N.C. Highway 147 early Saturday.

Police said the victim was riding in a car going north on N.C. Highway 147, near North Roxboro Street, around 3 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up alongside it. Someone in the second vehicle opened fire, shooting the victim in the face and striking his car multiple times.

The driver of the victim's car went to the Durham police headquarters. An ambulance took him to Duke University Hospital.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, had life-threatening injuries.

Police said they believe the shooting was intentional. No suspects have been named.

N.C. 147 North was closed between Fayetteville Road and Mangum Street for about two hours later Saturday morning while police gathered evidence.
