A man who tried to foil the theft detection devices at Home Depot with aluminum foil learned Saturday that his scheme would not work.

Calvin William DeBerry, 59, wrapped merchandise from the store at 4901 Capital Blvd. in foil, thinking it would prevent activation of the store's theft-detection device, according to the warrant for his arrest.

He faces a charge of larceny along with charges relation to the attempt to destroy or deactivate machinery. DeBerry was being held on $3,000 bond.
