Man pleads guilty to buying alcohol in fatal teen DWI crash

Anthony Du Juan Geter, 21, pleaded guilty to two counts of purchasing alcohol for a minor. He was sentenced to 12 months' probation and 24 hours of community service and was ordered to pay a $50 fine, plus court costs.

Agents with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement say Geter purchased a bottle of rum for Garrett Prince, a 16-year-old charged with driving while impaired, felony death by motor vehicle and other charges in the death of Elizabeth Molloy.

Molloy was riding with Prince on Jan. 7 when he lost control of his Jeep in north Raleigh, hit a mailbox and crashed into a tree. She died from blunt-force trauma to her head.

A wreck report indicated Prince's SUV was traveling 75 mph in a 30 mph zone. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.29.

Geter had no comment Wednesday after his plea.

Several other people also face charges in the case: Hannah R. Smith, 18, who hosted an underage drinking party that Molloy and Prince attended, and Samantha M. McKinney, 17, and an unidentified 15-year-old who helped buy the liquor.

Prince, Smith and McKinney are also Millbrook High students.
