ZEBULON, N.C. — Police arrested a 24-year-old man after he lead them on a chase that reached speeds of 140 mph early Sunday.

Zebulon Police Officer B.R. Lane was stopped at a stop light on East Gannon Avenue around 2:30 a.m. when he noticed a man, who he had stopped previously, driving a red Lexus.

Lane came behind the driver – identified as Julio Lawrence – and attempted to pull Lawrence over. Lane did not have his police lights on at this point, police said.

Lawrence stopped, but sped off again before Lane got out of his patrol car.

The chase ended inside Nash County, where Lawrence was arrested. Police said Lawrence lead cops to his home.

Lawrence was being held in the Wake County Jail Sunday night.
