Man killed when vehicle hits Winston-Salem church

Edward Vincent Stabb, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, whose name has not been released, was transported to N.C. Baptist Medical Center where she was treated for injuries from the collision.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are investigating a wreck where a vehicle collided into St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Saturday, Winston-Salem police said.

The vehicle was headed west on 6th Street, crossed over Summit Street and collided into the church, located at 520 West Summit St., authorities said.

Edward Vincent Stabb, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, whose name has not been released, was transported to N.C. Baptist Medical Center where she was treated for injuries from the collision.

Police said it did not appear alcohol or speed were a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
