RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police took a man into custody Monday afternoon after a dramatic and intense two-hour standoff that ended on a local movie theater's rooftop.

Maj. Stacy Deans said the manager at Carmike 15 Cinema, at 5501 Atlantic Springs Road, found two men inside when he opened the business Monday morning at about 11:30 a.m.

Deans could not say if the suspects were armed or if they showed a weapon, but the manager was able to get away and notify an officer on patrol nearby

As police arrived, one of the men, Stanley Mark Joyner, 43, ran out the front door and was taken into custody.

The other man, Deshawn Wiggins, 31, ran back into the movie theater.

After a search of about two hours, officers pinned Wiggins down on the roof of the theater, and he surrendered.

Both men were charged with felony breaking and entering and taken to the Wake County Detention Center.

Carmike 15 was closed for most of the day but opened back up for evening screenings.
