Man hit by train suffers minor injuries

A man walking along railroad tracks in Four Oaks on Friday evening suffered only minor injuries after he was hit by a freight train, police said.

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — A man walking along railroad tracks in Four Oaks on Friday evening suffered only minor injuries after he was hit by a freight train, police said.

The unidentified man was walking home from the grocery store when the CSX train hit him near Smith Street, injuring his hip and cutting his arm, police said.

The train, which was going about 35 mph at the time, tried to stop before hitting the man, police said.

The eastbound train resumed its journey about two hours later.
