Man found shot inside Durham home

— Durham County deputies are investigating what they say appears to be a drug-related shooting death outside Durham's city limits.

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Paul Sherwin said Thursday that deputies found Saul Botello Abrimz, 31, inside a home at 212 Andrews Chapel Road – off of Leesville Road near Raleigh – shortly after 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Abrimz died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

"The evidence (investigators) found inside the house leads us to believe that there was drug activity occurring there," Sherwin added, but he declined to provide any other details about the case.

A woman who identified herself as a friend of Abrimz's girlfriend called 911 to report his death. She told the dispatcher she went to the house to check on him when he didn't return his girlfriend's calls, and she found his body in a blood-spattered bathroom.

Nora Izaguirre, who owns the property, said there are two houses that sit on it – her house and a smaller house in the back that she said she rented about five months ago to a couple.

Abrimz was found inside the smaller house. Authorities said he lived there, but Izaguirre said she didn't know him.

Izaguirre said she didn't see or hear anything Wednesday evening

Lois Williams, another neighbor, however, said she heard two gunshots in the area sometime between 5 and 6 p.m.

"It makes you a little uncomfortable," she said. "You don't really know what happened."

Other neighbors said the residents of the home keep to themselves and that they didn't know much about them.

It wasn't clear how the man might have been connected to the home.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Durham County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 919-560-0880 or the sheriff’s crime tip line at 919-560-7151.

As much as I would not want to live in Durham, I am about to agree with the poster who said that Raleigh is almost as bad as Durham, but because we are the "capitol city", the media does not want to give Raleigh a bad name. I had my car broken into recently...right in my yard. I had another car window smashed while parked on the street near downtown, and had a third car broken into and ransacked near NC State's campus. Crime is everywhere, and if you have not yet been a victim, praise God.

People who chalk this up to "just another murder in Durham" are obviously ignorant. This area is not known for crime. Raleigh likes to claim Brier Creek as its own, and this is just through the woods from the new Wake Med ER facility up there. If I had to guess, this is most likely domestic and not a random crime. For those who believe Raleigh is so great, when I lived in Raleigh a girl was murdered in my apartment complex. Crime is everywhere. The one part we can all probably agree on is that this type of thing has been going on for years, we are just more aware of it now thanks to the media sensationalizing everything.

I can't believe the comments.....a man is dead and no one is hardly mentioning this man and his family. All you are talking about is how bad the crime is. Crime is EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Durham has one of the Highest Murder rates/Crime rates of any town it's size in NC. Just a matter of time before it visits you.

I worked in Durham for only 5 years and had my car broken into twice, this in an office park with Video security.

Why is it so hard for you to believe that not all Durham is bad..City parts yes..County parts no. On the same theory my car was broken into 3 times in North Raleigh, Buddy robbed by gun at Raleigh Convention center and of this yr another friend robbed at gunpoint off Capital Blvd. It happens everywhere and not just in Durham. I`ll have been here 24 yrs in the county and have had the same no crime in Durham experience as well as 03Arabian. I can guarantee your just one unlucky experience away from crime in your county too. Where do you live that is so 100% safe from all crime??

"I have lived in Durham county 38 years now and seen it expand and grow. I like the new growth an development. I have never been a victim of any crime here or any of my family in that time."

Raleigh is just as bad as Durham too. Its not the perfect city to live in. I think since Raleigh is the capital they don't want to give it a bad image to tourist

is a daily event really news?

Durham continues to get worse by the day and it's stories like this one which make me wish 'Under the Dome' was real and there was one for Durham.

    Obamacare for one and all

Then Raleigh will finally have to face all the crime in your own backyard and others theirs. The fact is another person lost their life in a senseless crime we don't know all the facts of. It could have been a domestic dispute, could have been a robbery by a resident of another county or state. People forget that life is lost and would rather see how funny or whimsical a post they can make. I have lived in Durham county 38 years now and seen it expand and grow. I like the new growth an development. I have never been a victim of any crime here or any of my family in that time.
