DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County deputies are investigating what they say appears to be a drug-related shooting death outside Durham's city limits.

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Paul Sherwin said Thursday that deputies found Saul Botello Abrimz, 31, inside a home at 212 Andrews Chapel Road – off of Leesville Road near Raleigh – shortly after 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Abrimz died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

"The evidence (investigators) found inside the house leads us to believe that there was drug activity occurring there," Sherwin added, but he declined to provide any other details about the case.

A woman who identified herself as a friend of Abrimz's girlfriend called 911 to report his death. She told the dispatcher she went to the house to check on him when he didn't return his girlfriend's calls, and she found his body in a blood-spattered bathroom.

Nora Izaguirre, who owns the property, said there are two houses that sit on it – her house and a smaller house in the back that she said she rented about five months ago to a couple.

Abrimz was found inside the smaller house. Authorities said he lived there, but Izaguirre said she didn't know him.

Izaguirre said she didn't see or hear anything Wednesday evening

Lois Williams, another neighbor, however, said she heard two gunshots in the area sometime between 5 and 6 p.m.

"It makes you a little uncomfortable," she said. "You don't really know what happened."

Other neighbors said the residents of the home keep to themselves and that they didn't know much about them.

It wasn't clear how the man might have been connected to the home.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Durham County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 919-560-0880 or the sheriff’s crime tip line at 919-560-7151.
