A Virginia man drowned in a Person County lake on Memorial Day, authorities said.

<b>ROXBORO, N.C.</b> — A Virginia man drowned in a Person County lake on Memorial Day, authorities said.

A group of people at Hyco Lake for the holiday was throwing a ball around in the water when two men went under, authorities said. Other members of the group dove in and rescued one of the men.

Rescue crews later found the body of 24-year-old Gusty Maze, authorities said.

Authorities said they don't know why the men suddenly went under.
