Man drowns in Falls Lake

Posted July 5, 2008

— Officials said a 23-year-old man drowned at Falls Lake Saturday.

The body of Aminad Perez, of 571-A Dacian Road in Raleigh, was recovered around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

Officials responded after 4 p.m. to the drowning call at Falls Lake near 12500 Barton's Creek Boat Ramp.

Authorities said Perez was with family camping and having a cookout at the lake all day. Family said Perez went to the other side of the cove to get water. He went under while trying to swim back to the campsite.

Perez's body was sent to the Chapel Hill Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

I was thinking they are probably within the allowed number, but
the appearance of weight gave me some concern. If I was DNR,
I probably would feel compelled to inspect the boat.

My thoughts exactly. I count 8 people. Wonder what the USCG passenger capacity is? I'm betting less than 8.
