HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A judge on Wednesday ruled that a Durham man is competent to stand trial for murder in the December slaying of his pregnant girlfriend.

Authorities found the body of Ebony Chatell Robinson, 21, along Wrenn Road, not far from the Durham County line on Dec. 7. She had been shot and was found lying in leaves along the dirt road.

Kenneth Earl White, 39, of 4020 Sudbury Road, was arrested several hours later and charged with Robinson's death.

A star athlete at Durham School of the Arts and a former North Carolina Central University student, Robinson was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Investigators said she and White had an ongoing relationship and that White had threatened  her when he found out she was pregnant.

White's next court date is Oct. 28.
