RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities on Monday charged a Wake County man with raping and blackmailing an 18-year-old he met on the Facebook social networking site.

Ronald Stacey Rhodes, 22, of 1300 Farm Road, Lot 3, was charged with kidnapping, second-degree forcible rape and extortion. He was being held on $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in court at 9 a.m. on April 12.

Wake County deputies searched his home on Saturday and seized a desktop computer, a black book containing women's names and phone numbers and a document from the Wake County Sheriff's Office noting that Rhodes is a registered sex offender, according to a search warrant.

The woman told investigators that she met Rhodes, who went by the name Brionne Rhodes, on Facebook in early February and then met him in person several times. On Feb. 13, she went to his home for dinner, and he threatened to "erase" her if she didn't have sex with him, according to an affidavit for the search warrant.

Rhodes took pictures of the woman and videotaped them having sex, according to the affidavit. He then promised to delete the pictures and video if the woman had sex with him again and then threatened to distribute the photos unless she paid him money, the affidavit states.
