GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 21-year-old man has been charged with robbing six stores in Goldsboro and Wayne County, authorities said Wednesday.

Antell DeAngelo Nobles was arrested after the robbery of a Handy Mart convenience store at 2011 N.C. Highway 70 West last Friday, police said. A masked man pointed a rifle at the cashier and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

Once Nobles was in the Wayne County jail, police said, Goldsboro and Wayne County investigators developed evidence linking him to five other armed robberies:

  • Dec. 30, 2010, robbery of Hasty Mart #28, Millers Chapel Road
  • Jan. 3, 6 and 15 robberies of a Kangaroo store, 515 E. New Hope Road
  • Jan. 19 robbery of China 8, 1807 N. Berkeley Blvd.

Nobles faces six counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and is being held under a $650,000 secured bond.

Police officers and sheriff's deputies are still investigating several cases and interviewing people of interest, police said. More charges are expected to be filed.

State Department of Correction records show that Nobles has a 2008 larceny conviction and a 2009 conviction for operating a vehicle without a license.
