RALEIGH, N.C. — William Spencer McCowan, 32, was arrested Sunday morning in connection to a stabbing at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Blount Street.

McCowan, of 211 Bledsoe Ave., was charged with murder and and will appear in court Monday, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Early Saturday morning, Steven Bradley Dockery, 38, was found injured in the street. He was transported to WakeMed, where he later died.

Family members said Dockery was only a few blocks away from home when the stabbing occurred.

"The family is in mourning right now, and we just want to find out some answers," Emma Leach, Dockery's aunt, said.

Police won't say if McCowan, who has a criminal history and has served time in jail, and Dockery knew one another, but a spokesman said the crime was not a random act.
