Man arrested in Fuquay-Varina double shooting

Authorities arrested an Apex man Wednesday and charged him in a shooting last week that wounded two people.

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Authorities arrested an Apex man Wednesday and charged him in a shooting last week that wounded two people.

Members of the U.S. Marshal's Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Brandon D. Bowden, 21, at the intersection of Sunset Lake and Holly Springs roads. He was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

A 21-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were wounded early on Aug. 11 on the 100 block of Lawrence Street near West Jones Street, police said.

Samanda Cradle was shot once in the torso and was taken to WakeMed for treatment. Police found the teen on Baytree Street, where he fled after being shot in the thigh.

The shooting remains under investigation, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Fuquay-Varina Police Department at 919-552-3191.
