Man arrested in fatal shooting near Wake Forest community center

Mykevian Keyshawn Massenburg, of 340 N. Allen Road, was charged with murder. He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A 19-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting near a Wake Forest community center earlier this month.

Sebastian Unique Smith was taken to the hospital at about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 after officers were called to a shooting at 344 N. Allen Road, the location of Hope House, a Wake Forest nonprofit that has served food to community members in Wake Forest for the last five years.

Smith died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing. Anybody with information is asked to call Wake Forest police at 919-435-9610.
