FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 29-year-old Fayetteville man was arrested and charged Tuesday with stealing batteries from several Cumberland County school buses.

Christian Dawkins, of 1810 Wayne Street, is charged with 16 counts each of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Dawkins is accused of stealing batteries from school busses while they were parked at several schools. Authorities did not say which schools were impacted by the thefts. Cumberland County school officials estimate the damage will cost $5,350.

Dawkins remained in the Cumberland County jail Tuesday under a $80,000 bond.
