Man accused of dumping 3,500 gallons of waste near Wake County creek

Aaron Sievers, the president of Separator Solutions, a company that offers sludge removal and composting services, is accused of dumping restaurant by-product, impacting several hundred feet of the creek.

According to authorities, Sievers' truck slipped down an embankment and got stuck while he was dumping. But Sievers told WRAL that he was heading to the mechanic when his brakes gave out, causing him to slip down the hill.

Sarah Penny owns the property and says this is not the first time there has been a problem with illegal dumping near the creek.

"We've smelt horrible smells down here," she said. "People don't want to go as far as the dump, they don't want to pay they money to have things hauled off."

Penny said she is not sure how to stop people from illegally dumping, but wishes that people would respect her family's property.

"This is where my grandson plays," she said. "It breaks my heart. I would not want anyone to experience this. When we first came up we thought it was sewage, that's how bad it is."

According to documents, Separator Solutions has not had any environmental violation in the past.
