GARNER, N.C. — A 78-year-old man who died Monday in a tractor accident at a home in Garner will be forever remembered as a gifted singer and a wonderful man, according to family members.

Deputies were called to 4400 Wilmington Road at about 11 p.m. after family members found the body of James Badger Sr. in his garden.

Beverly Mitchell, Badger's daughter, describes her father's voice as "beautiful and angelic."

"He had a very powerful voice," she said. "We traveled with him in Wake County, out of Wake County and out of the state."

Mitchell and her brother, James Badger Jr., said they became part of the act at times.

"We got a little bit of that singing in us also," Badger Jr. said.

Badger was a part of several groups, including the St. Amanda Missionary Baptist Church in Garner. Badger was a deacon, and man of the year.

"He touched so many people with his ministry," Mitchell said. "Just a wonderful man, that was just daddy."

No foul play is suspected in his death. An investigation of the accident is still ongoing.
