Lottery to end 14 scratch-off games

— The North Carolina Education Lottery will cease sales for 14 instant scratch-off games at the end of the year. Anyone holding a winning ticket for the affected games must claim the prize by March 31, 2009.

The following games will no longer be sold, beginning Jan. 1:

  • Ruby Red 7’s
  • Crossword
  • Lucky Times 7
  • $150,000 Anniversary Cash
  • Triple Tripler
  • $100,000 Gold Rush
  • Summertime Cash
  • Beat the Heat
  • $150,000 Cash Zone
  • Instant Riches
  • Winning Streak
  • 2 for the Dough
  • Tic Tac 7’s
  • Summertime Cash 2

    Good. The people that play them are the ones who can least afford it. Also, stop wasting tax money advertising the lottery. The people that play it already know it's there; and they know that VA and SC have better paying odds.
