Look for detours in downtown Raleigh Sunday morning

Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh will be closed Saturday night into Sunday between South McDowell and Salisbury streets to allow for utility work.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh will be closed Saturday night into Sunday between South McDowell and Salisbury streets to allow for utility work.

Duke Energy crews will begin work on Saturday night at 10 p.m. and expect to be finished by 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The closure comes after an anticipated detour for the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue on Saturday. That work, to repair water mains, is expected to be complete by 4 p.m. Saturday.

Detour for Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh

  • Traffic headed westbound will take a left on S. Salisbury Street, right on W. Martin Street, right on S. McDowell Street and a left to return to W. Hargett Street westbound.
  • Traffic headed eastbound will take a left on S. McDowell Street, right on W. Morgan Street, right on S. Salisbury Street and a left to return to W. Hargett Street eastbound.
  • Pedestrians can still access the sidewalk on the south side of Hargett Street. The sidewalk on the north side will be closed.
  • Travelers on GoRaleigh bus routes should check the app and notifications for bus stops that will be closed or routes altered during the work.
