Part of Glenwood Avenue closed Saturday for water main repair
Raleigh Water will close the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue on Saturday to repair a water main.
Glenwood Avenue will be closed between Hillsborough and Jones streets starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, through about 4 p.m. on the same day, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors.
The work on Glenwood is the first of two planned projects that will detour traffic in downtown Raleigh this weekend. Hargett Street between South McDowell and Salisbury streets will be closed Saturday beginning at 10 p.m. to allow for utility work.
Detour off Glenwood to Boylan:
- Traffic traveling north on Glenwood Ave will turn left onto Hillsborough Street, right onto North Boylan Avenue, right onto West Jones Street, then back onto Glenwood Avenue.
- Traffic traveling south on Glenwood Avenue will turn right onto W. Jones Street, left onto North Boylan Avenue, right onto Hillsborough Street, then back onto Glenwood Avenue.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if they can.
Raleigh Water does not expect customers to see any interruption of water services, but will call or visit customers to notify them if the water will be turned off.
