A lockdown at Smithfield-Selma High School was lifted Tuesday morning after a false report of police chasing a man with a gun onto campus.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A lockdown at Smithfield-Selma High School was lifted Tuesday morning after a false report of police chasing a man with a gun onto campus.

The school was under lockdown for a very short period, Johnston County Schools officials said.
