Local cities cancel National Night Out events

National Night Out events scheduled for Tuesday evening in several local cities and towns have been canceled due to the threat of rain.

RALEIGH, N.C.National Night Out events scheduled for Tuesday evening in several local cities and towns have been canceled due to the threat of rain.

Apex, Cary, Creedmoor and Garner plan to reschedule their events for the fall, although dates have not yet been determined.

Morrisville also canceled its event at the Target shopping center.

Fayetteville police said an event in the Kings Grant community will also be rescheduled, although when has not been determined. An event in the Southgate community has also been canceled.

Events involving the Lafayette Village Weast and Lafayette Village-South Hills Community Watch groups have been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, at 202 Hope Mills Road.

A National Night Out walk for Fayetteville's Beaver Run community has been postponed until Aug. 16.

Events were also planned in other cities, including Raleigh,however, there have not been any other notices of cancellations.

National Night Out is an annual event that brings police and residents together to show their support for anti-crime initiatives.
