Littleton man accused of shooting brother during fight

Halifax County sheriff's deputies said Albert Lee Harper, 50, shot his brother around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday during a fight about a phone call.

LITTLETON, N.C. — Halifax County sheriff's deputies said Albert Lee Harper, 50, shot his brother around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday during a fight about a phone call.

The shooting happened at the brothers' home, 4790 Hedgepeth Road, in Littleton. Deputies arrested Harper at the scene.

Emergency crews took his brother, 46-year-old Percy Harper, to Halifax Regional Medical Center and later to Pitt Memorial Hospital, according to Sgt. Doug Pilgreen. Percy Harper was shot in the hip and hand.

Deputies charged Albert Lee Harper with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bond was set at $75,000. His first court appearance was scheduled for June 6 in Halifax.
