— A Franklin County church was damaged by fire Saturday afternoon after a lightning strike.

Franklin County communications officials said a bolt of lightning struck the Rock Springs Baptist Church at 3822 N.C. Highway 39 South between Bunn and Louisburg.

Witnesses said flames shot through the roof after lightning struck the steeple. The fire was confined to the steeple and damaged equipment within, but the structure of the church didn't sustain serious damage.

hooptie1964 - "Sounds like "God" was angry with them?"

Nah! Lightning is natural; God is supernatural.

    God bless.

WELL, LIKE THE PASTOR SAID SUNDAY MORNING, IT COULD BE ONE OF TWO THINGS, GOD WAS TRYING TO SHOW US THAT A CHURCH BUILDING IS NOT THE CHURCH, THE BODY OF THE CHURCH, THE PEOPLE ARE WHAT MAKE THE CHURCH AND WE NEED TO STOP BEING CONCERNED WITH WHERE WE ARE GOING TO PUT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE COMING, AND BE MORE CONCERNED WITH GETTING THE PEOPLE THERE AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE SPACE OR THE DEVIL IS REALLY TICKED OFF THAT OUR CHURCH IS GROWING SO HE WAS TRYING TO DESTROY IT. THOSE TWO SCENERIOS MAKE PERFECT SENSE !!!
