The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is planning a big morning for families on Dec. 4.

They'll be showcasing their classes and programs during a free drop-in Family Sampler Event from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Dec. 4. The event gives you the opportunity to figure out what kind of classes or programs might be a good fit for your kids. Instructors will lead hands-on activities for a variety of art forms, including ceramics, creative movement, theater games and musical expression. Geared toward toddlers to upper elementary school students. A brunch bake sale will offer snacks. And there will be some discounts on upcoming classes.
Then indie kids' band Lunch Money will follow at 11 a.m. with a CD release party for its latest. Last year, the S.C.-based band's CD Dizzy was named the No. 2 recording of the year by NPR. The new CD is called "Original Friend" and I previewed it a bit in the spring when the band was in Raleigh for the Cool Kidz Expo. It's a great show. And the music is fun for both kids and parents. Tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the door for adults and $7 in advance and $8 at the door for kids. Children ages two and under are free.
