I've been interviewing Molly Ledford by phone for the last couple of years. So it was great to finally meet her Saturday at the CoolKidz Expo.
Ledford is singer, writer, guitar player for Lunch Money, a great band for kids and families from Columbia, S.C. The trio has been all over the kids music world, playing at venues such as the New York Public Library in Manhattan, the Summer on Southport Festival in Chicago and the XM/Sirius Performance Studio in Washington, D.C.
They've had a chart-topping song on XM/Sirius children's radio. And they're loved by those in the know in the children's music industry. Their album "Dizzy" was named the No. 2 album of the year by the Fids and Kamily Music Awards.

It's hard for bands like Lunch Money to get their names out. It's not like they're all over the Disney channel or featured in big displays at the music store. So I'm all about helping out bands like Lunch Money who play great music that my own kid loves and don't make my ears bleed. This is fun, great music.

So here's my interview with Molly at the CoolKidz Expo.

And check out the band playing a new song called "Original Friend," which will appear on their third album set to come out around October.

And if you love what you see and you wished you saw them, they'll be back Dec. 4 at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro.
