Holiday Guide Update: Zebulon store opens Children's Shop, more events added
The 2010 Go Ask Mom Holiday Guide now has more than 110 events, including a special shop where kids can find inexpensive gifts for friends and family.
Posted — UpdatedLiz Wood, an employee at the two-story gift shop in downtown Zebulon, said memories of shopping at a similar area in a Hudson Belk in Raleigh with her mom years ago sparked the idea.
Sycamore Crossing will close off one of the rooms in the store for the special shopping area from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4. Items are priced from $1 to $10. And kids can shop in the area with the help of store employees while mom checks out the rest of the store, which carries lots of Vera Bradley, collegiate items, Willow Tree, Colonial Candles and more. Kids can even get their presents wrapped for free so mom won't see what they got for her when they are all done.
Last year, the store opened the Chidlren's Shop for just a couple of hours after the annual Zebulon parade, which is Dec. 5 this year. Wood said it was packed. So this year, they decided to expand it.
Inside the children's shop, kids will find gifts for moms, dads, siblings, friends and others. Wood tells me they include ornaments and other items with sports team logos, jewelry, candles, monogrammed notepads and more. Kids will walk through a pretend gingerbread house to get inside.
Santa will be there for a couple of hours each day. Santa will be there from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4. Bring your camera.
