Weekend Plans: Egg hunts, Mickey Mouse and more

Both Crossroads Plaza in Cary and North Hills will be having Easter events on Saturday. And there are some other additions as well ...

Wake County Speedway will have what they're calling the biggest egg hunt in Raleigh with 20,000 eggs. It's 2 p.m. Saturday at the track just south of Raleigh. The event also features kids bike races.

Pump It Up in north Raleigh near Brier Creek has two Inflatably Fun Easter Egg Hunt & Bounce Events on Friday morning. Tickets, which sell for $9.95 per child in advance, are going fast and expected to sell out.

Adventure Landing in north Raleigh on Capital Boulevard will have a hunt on Saturday. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The park also will be offering some deals on go-karts, miniature golf and laser tag. Tickets can be purchased online.

And BounceU in Apex has an Easter Bounce and Egg Hunt from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. It's $10 per child. Call ahead to reserve your spot.

Duke Gardens in Durham is pulling out its Nature Ranger Cart from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. The colorful cart, which sits at the foot of the Terrace Gardens, is full of activities for kids such as flower bingo, paper butterflies, pond life pictures and leaf rubbings. You also can grab some nutritious food for the ducks. It's a free, drop-in program.

And award-winning storytellers Timmy and Susana Abell will spin some adventures, tall tales and fairy tales with a little music from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Duke Gardens. Tickets are $10 and should be available at the door. Click here for ticket information.

Mickey Mouse and all his friends will be playing the Durham Performing Arts Center with shows Saturday and Sunday as part of Disney Live! Mickey's Rockin' Roadshow. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald will all head off on an adventure. Buzz and Woody, Cinderella, Tigger and more Disney characters will make an appearance. Tickets start at $14 and go up to $55 a piece.

Historic Oak View County Park will show an edited version of "Cold Mountain" as part of its free film series. The event is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the park in east Raleigh. Free popcorn and lemonade during the movie, which has been edited to remove most graphic and mature content.
