Most of us remember how it feels when you're a kid and not invited to a party or picked last for kickball.

In the grand scheme of life, maybe it's not a big deal. But, for a kid, whose world revolves around their friends and family, it can be pretty tough.

Elizabeth Worley of Flip Educational Consulting offers some tips to help kids manage their feelings in situations like this. Worley said it's important not to tell kids to just get over it. Instead, parents should validate and normalize their feelings so they can better handle them.

Worley and her colleague Edla Prevette, both veteran teachers and counselors, opened Flip Educational Consulting a couple of years ago to help grade schoolers develop social skills. I introduced Worley and Prevette, both moms, a couple of weeks ago and have been featuring tips from them each Wednesday. Check the box above for more tips.
For more about Flip Educational Consulting, go to their website. Worley and Prevette will be back next week with another tip.
