SANFORD, N.C. — Lee County authorities were seeking the public's help on Saturday to identify and locate a person who they want to question in connection with a fatal shooting that happened early Friday during a home invasion at a Sanford home. 
According to investigators, a man broke into a mobile home on Hickory Nut Court shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday and shot Anthony Wayne Giles, 45. .

The sheriff's office released a surveillance photo of a man seen inside the Save More Convenience Store on South Horner Boulevard at about 6 a.m. Saturday

The man, who has long hair, was wearing a black jacket and a black knit hat. Authorities said the man is not currently a suspect in the crime. 

Giles’ wife told deputies that a man carrying an assault-type rifle broke into the house, announced himself as “sheriff” and demanded money.

Giles’ wife, whose name was not released, said the man tied her up after she gave him money. Investigators said the couple's two adult children were also in the home. They were not hurt.

The shooter was described as black, with his hair in dreadlocks pulled into a ponytail. He was wearing a black knit cap, a gray-colored sweatshirt with “Sheriff’s Dept.” on it and tan cargo pants.
