Laurinburg store clerk shot to death

Posted December 1, 2011

— A convenience store clerk was shot to death in Laurinburg Tuesday evening, police said.

Lt. Kim Monroe said that officers investigating reports of suspicious activity around 8 p.m. found Yasin Geedi lying on the ground behind the #1 Stop store at North Main Street and Produce Market Road.

She said Geedi, of Laurinburg, had been shot multiple times in the upper body. He was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Geedi appears to have closed the store and been on his way home when he was shot, Monroe said.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Laurinburg police at 910-276-3211.

Anyone want to bet that when this person or persons are arrested that they were out on probation for a violent crime?

He should never have been closing by himself. One trick I was taught. Two close. One goes out to get in their auto and move it to the front door. The other person does the same thing. When closing one person looks to be sure it is clear. Goes to their car and prepare to leave. The other person comes out and get into their auto and both leave. It works....

There will always be criminals, but they are not one step ahead of us. Our job is to make sure good people stand up to criminals. We cannot prevent all crime, but we can do our best to catch and punish all we can.

I'd like to see surveilance cameras everywhere. It seems so simple to me that you can avoid the (lefitimate) privacy concerns by requiring a warrant for police to view the footage. If a crime occurs, view the video for that location and track the bad guys.

when found and found guilty, give them the death penalty, and
carry it out, don't mess around for years, do it.

There will always be criminals, they will always stay 1 step ahead of us, no matter how hard we prepare.
