Knightdale man wounded in Rocky Mount shooting

A Knightdale man was wounded Sunday in a shooting in Rocky Mount, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Knightdale man was wounded Sunday in a shooting in Rocky Mount, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 3:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Stokes Street, police said. Maurice Evans, 23, was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment, but his condition was unknown Monday.

Jarnell Watson-Davis, 17, of Rocky Mount, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was being held Monday in the Edgecombe County jail under a $1.5 million bond.

Police released no other details of the shooting.
