RALEIGH, N.C. — Five Triangle area residents will return home later this week from a charity trek to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Rob Pavone, John Chamber, David McDowell and husband-and-wife Roger and Auston Moore climbed 19,340 feet to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, last weekend.

The team did the trek to raise money for ZOE, an empowerment program that helps orphaned African children.

A satellite terminal loaned to the team by Cisco has allowed the hikers to update their blog throughout the mission.

According to the blog, they’ve raise over $20,000 dollars, surpassing their original goal of $19,340—one dollar for every foot they’ve climbed.
