Thanks to a recent grant, the Carrboro Farmers' Market will be giving kids free Market Bucks this August and September.

To get the bucks, kids ages 5 to 14 can join the Market Bunch Kids Club and take part in fun weekly activities like scavenger hunts, vegetable taste tests, art activities and more. Each time they participate, they get $5 in Market Bucks.

They can spend the $5 on fresh fruits and vegetables in the market - from a pint of blueberries to juicy tomatoes. Or, they can save up their bucks to spend later in the month. What a great way to encourage kids to get excited about their food and eat healthfully!

To sign up, just stop by the Market Bunch table near the welcome booth at the Wednesday or Saturday market to sign your kids up. It's free. The program runs through Sept. 30.

Right now, the market is open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays, and 7 a.m. to noon, Saturdays.
