<b>SMITHFIELD, N.C.</b> — A Johnston County man has been charged with second-degree murder in a drug overdose death, authorities said Friday.

Justin Cole Bennett, 18, of Benson, died on Aug. 9 of a heroin overdose, and the Johnston County Sheriff's Office says Joshua John Novak, 24, of Beulah Milton Drive in Willow Spring, provided Bennett with the drugs.
