'It isn't great to not have a solid roof:' Durham woman still recovering from Ian worries as Nicole looms
Just weeks after Ian impacted North Carolina, tropical depression Nicole is threatening the state with heavy rain, winds and isolated tornadoes.
Posted — UpdatedSome Triangle families, still recovering from Ian's damage, are watching Nicole's approach warily.
Repairs from the last storm are far from finished – and she's worried the additional wind and rain will cause new damage to pile on.
"Shingles are hanging from the roof, and there's still a big hole that is barely covered by the tarp," said Jennifer Greenstein, who found her century-old home in the Trinity Park neighborhood destroyed back in September when a tree fell on the roof.
“We’re just very disorganized," she said. "Every morning is like, 'Okay, let me make sure I have clothes to wear for the day.'"
"It isn’t great to not have a solid roof," she said. "So if the tarp doesn’t hold, it will rain, and we will just have to deal with that later."
“I mean the general consensus is hopefully the tarp will hold," she said. "I don’t know that there is a whole lot that can be done, and everyone is very busy."
Greenstein says it's already rained several times, and the damage keeps piling on – making the clean-up process more difficult and stressful and expensive.
