Investigators find meth lab components in Kenly motel

Posted January 13, 2011

— Seven people were taken into custody after Johnston County authorities found components of a methamphetamine lab in a motel room on Thursday evening.

Johnston County deputies were assisting Wayne County in an investigation of an absconder, Stephanie Smith. Investigators followed Smith to Days Inn at 1139 Johnston Parkway in Kenly, where officers arrested her and two other people. Four others outside of the room were also arrested. Their names were not released.

A State Bureau of Investigation assessment team were examining the room on Thursday night.

This is the second meth lab bust in the past two weeks. Capt. Alex Fish said Saturday night a traffic stop netted another meth lab bust.

A hotel room or an apartment is not the place to make things like this. The smell is overwhelming, and cannot be hidden. Your chances of getting caught are increased greatly. This is why old moonshine stills were buily in the middle of the woods. Todays criminals are getting more and more un-smart. How about that GOLO? Is un-smart ok to say?

Now here's a good question. The "urban legend" goes that you should never use a motel/hotel coffee maker, because EVERYBODY uses them to make meth. I mean, come on, don't you? So my wife is totally in denial about this threat, boldly using coffee makers coast to coast. Me, I'm at least going to give that coffee pot the sniff test. What does meth smell like anyway? (A: not coffee) So what about you?

It is just really difficult to start up your own business these days. They probably just neglected to obtain their business license.

This whole situation is so sad. Not only did they put seven human beings lives in jeopardy of being blown up making this meth. But they put everyone who was staying in that motel in jeopardy. What is wrong with these people? Do they not think?
What..?...they think because they choose a motel room that this stuff won't explode? How dumb can you get.
