Inmate sentenced for murder of Raleigh man found dead in prison

A prison inmate who was serving 40 years for the 2013 murder of a Raleigh man died on Saturday from an apparent suicide, officials said.

POLKTON, N.C. — A prison inmate who was serving 40 years for the 2013 murder of a Raleigh man died on Saturday from an apparent suicide, officials said.

Tony Davis, 26, was found unresponsive around 5 a.m. in his cell at Lanesboro Correctional Institution, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Prison medical staff and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Davis was serving four decades in prison for second degree murder in connection to the May 2013 shooting death of 25-year-old Christian Tobias McLean, of Raleigh.
