An inmate at Maury Correctional Institution died of an apparent suicide, the state Department of Correction said Tuesday.

An inmate at Maury Correctional Institution died of an apparent suicide, the state Department of Correction said Tuesday.
Johnny Lewis, 55, was serving a life sentence for a second-degree murder conviction in Robeson County in 1978. He was found at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in his cell with a belt around his neck.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death.
