— Authorities captured an 18-year-old Monday who had escaped from a minimum-security unit from a prison in Morganton, the state Department of Correction said.

Alexander Cornelius Flowers was captured shortly after 8:30 a.m. after escaping from the Western Youth Institution hours earlier, DOC spokesman Keith Acree said.

Flowers is serving an 8-10 month prison sentence after being convicted in January of larceny of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny in Stokes County.

According to the Department of Correction Offender Public Information online database, he is scheduled for release in December.

Western Youth Institution is a prison that houses approximately 680 male inmates, ages 22 and younger, in various custody levels.

I'll bet you one incomplete, misspelled, attention-grabbing WRAL headline that kid ran because of assaults in prison. Will WRAL talk to him when he's found? Noooooo.
