ICE agents take 18-year-old into custody in Raleigh
United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took an 18-year-old--Santos Geovany Padilla Guzman--into custody on Friday, the first reported case in Raleigh as ICE cracks down on women and children who recently crossed the United States-Mexico border illegally.
Posted — UpdatedGuzman’s sister told WRAL News that she is afraid her brother may die if he is deported to El Salvador because he refused to join gangs in the country.
She said Guzman crossed the border illegally in 2014 and did not attend court hearings at immigration court, fearing deportation.
Since Guzman did not go to court, a judge signed an order for his removal, resulting in ICE taking him into custody on Friday.
On Thursday, ICE agents took David Guillen Acosta—a senior at Riverside High School—into custody, along with five other men.
