BENSON, N.C. — An overturned tractor-trailer forced authorities to close part of Interstate 95 in Johnston County Wednesday, backing up traffic for miles into the afternoon.

State troopers said that a southbound tractor-trailer flipped over in the median near Exit 79 to N.C. Highway 50 in Benson around 6:40 a.m. No one was injured, and no other vehicles were involved.

Both directions of I-95 were closed for about 40 minutes after the wreck. Then two of three southbound lanes remained closed until shortly before 1 p.m.

At one point, traffic sensors showed that traffic backups on I-95 extended back eight miles into Four Oaks.
